Wooden Pick-Up Sticks
Game in Wooden Crane Box
Pick-Up sticks is a classic
favorite childhood game, that is simple yet absorbing. We were
reminded how great pick-up sticks is during "Colonial Day" festivities
at our school. The second-graders were playing the types of games
that children played in Colonial times, and one of the games was pick-up
sticks. The children played in groups and wanted to keep playing
and playing. It was wonderful to see the children so absorbed and
concentrated and having fun together in small groups, without the need
for ANYTHING electronic or noise-making or fancy. Just simple
pick-up sticks. All of the kids were commenting that they wished
they had Pick-Up sticks to play with at home! So of course we set
out to find the nicest wooden pick-up sticks set we could find.
The World Wildlife Fund
(WWF) Pick-Up Sticks set is especially nice because it comes in an
attractive wooden storage box (featuring a Crane image, and the WWF
logo). (These pick-up sticks are under license of and for the
benefit of the WWF, the largest multinational conservation organization
in the world. The manufacturer donates approximately 5% from the
sale of these games to support WWF’s global conservation efforts.)
The WWF Pick-Up Sticks set
includes 30 colored wooden (bamboo) sticks, a crane themed wooden
storage case and playing instructions.
