*Encouraging a love for art hands-on early in a child's life is a wonderful gift!* "Don Quixote" (Sculptor: Miles Stafford Rolph II) When we discovered the Breyer Model Horse Sculpting Kit, everyone wanted to make a horse sculpture - not just the kids! This is a great project for spending focused time with your child as he or she works out their own unique model horse sculpture. Our dad was an amazing sculptor/artist/architect, and he started sculpting figures at a very early age. He was sculpting entire regiments of miniature soldiers and horses out of clay before age 4; they were on display in the town hall. He then worked with beeswax, and graduated to working with the lost wax method, making beautiful miniature silver figures. Later he worked in large-scale welded steel, creating incredibly detailed figures with a welding torch and tongs. These are photos of his welded-steel Don Quixote sculpture, located a block from the White House at 1776 G St. in Washington, DC. Growing up surrounded by the arts and with natural art materials (beeswax and clay for sculpting) inspired us to make these wonderful art supplies & kits available to more children.
